PM Ponta begins official visit to United States

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday began his official visit to the United States.

The head of Romanian Government has arrived in New York, where he is to attend the 69th session of the U.N. General Assembly.

Ponta had a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyp Erdogan.

On Thursday, in New York, the head of government will visit the Romanian General Consulate offices, where he will meet representatives of the Romanian community.

He will then address the plenary debates of the U.N. General Assembly.

In Houston, on Friday, Ponta will meet Halliburton company executives, Exxon Mobile president, will attend the event entitled "Romania, a Gateway to a Safe and Diversified Energy Sector" (hosted by the World Affairs Council in Houston) and will visit the Exxon Mobile Technological Center. The premier will be accompanied by Finances Minister Ioana Petrescu and Energy Minister-Delegate Razvan Nicolescu.AGERPRES
