Strasser commends Serbian government

BERLIN- German Commissioner for Human Rights Christoph Strasser said on Sunday the Belgrade Pride Parade was an important signal in Serbia's accession talks with the EU, and that it meant the government was fulfilling its task of securing the freedoms of opinion and assembly for the people and protecting them from violent groups.

Strasser, who took part in the Parade, said he was pleased the event had been held and stated he was pleased he could express his support for the Serbian and international LGBT communities.

He pointed out that the Parade was also an important signal in Serbia's accession talks with the EU, according to a statement from the German Federal Foreign Office.
