Commissioner Sabic presents award to OSCE Mission

BELGRADE - The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Rodoljub Sabic, presented an award to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on Monday on International Right to Know Day for its special contribution to affirming the right of access to information.

At a conference marking the International Right to Know Day, organised by the Commissioner, the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Coalition for Freedom of Access to Information, the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and the Independent Association of Serbian Journalists (NUNS), the award was received by OSCE Mission head Peter Burkhard.

Awards were also handed out to the City of Smederevo, the winner of a competition for the best information handbook on the work of state authorities, and the Belgrade municipality of Zvezdara, for its contribution to affirming the right of access to information of public importance and transparent work.

A publication titled Free Access to Information - the Positions and Opinions of the Commissioner was also presented at the conference.

This year, too, the award winners were selected by a commission comprised of UNS and NUNS officials and representatives of the academic community and an NGO coalition for freedom of access to information, with the awards presented by Commissioner Rodoljub Sabic.
