BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic expressed expectation on Wednesday at a meeting with Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok that Serbia will open Chapters 32 and 35 in the negotiations with the EU by the end of the year.

Vucic said that in the last five months Serbia has made remarkable progress by adopting reform laws, and added that the Serbian government has announced fiscal consolidation measures, the government's press office released in a statement.

The prime minister also underlined the importance of passing a package of media laws which are in line with the EU acquis and were positively assessed by the European Commission.

Vucic expressed expectation that Serbia will open negotiating Chapters 32 and 35 by the end of the year, and Chapters 23 and 24 early next year, the statement reads.

Brok said that Serbia has made great progress in the EU integration process, which was very well welcomed by the international community.

The two officials agreed that the EU integration process is not an easy job and although it cannot show any visible effects in an early stage, it actually ensures economic growth and better future for the citizens of Serbia in the long run, the statement reads.
