Obradovic to stay at helm of EPS

BELGRADE - The government of Serbia appointed on Thursday Aleksandar Obradovic as the director of public enterprise Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) for a term of four years, government officials confirmed for Tanjug.

The Serbian government's decision to entrust the office of EPS director to Aleksandar Obradovic for a four-year term confirms the determination to press on with the reform of EPS, the company stated in a release.

Obradovic was selected through a public competition among more than 70 strong candidates. The competition was open in July last year and extended on several occasions in order to allow the candidates more time to apply for the top position in Serbia's largest public company.

Obradovic was first appointed as the acting director of EPS on September 6, 2012, and his term in office was extended two times.

Obradovic was the regional director of CEZ, the most profitable power company in Europe. Working at Arthur D. Little, international management consulting firm, he handled the restructuring of numerous European companies, while at the French Lafarge he gained experience in strategy and investment, EPS release states.

During the two years at EPS, Obradovic managed to improve the company's business results after years of negative balance sheets, and make EPS the second most profitable company in Serbia in 2013.
