26 Russian companies want to take over Serbian firms

MOSCOW - A total of 26 Russian companies are interested in taking over Serbian enterprises, Russia's Energy Minister Alexander Novak said after a meeting of the intergovernmental committee on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation between Russia and Serbia in Moscow on Tuesday.

He did not name the Serbian enterprises that the Russian companies demonstrated interest in, Itar-Tass reported.

Novak noted that Russia is considering the possibility of investing USD 1 billion in the construction and upgrade of railways in Serbia.

He also noted that Russia granted Serbia a USD 800 million loan for railway repairs, the Russian news agency reported.

Russia is interested in producing toll collection equipment in the territory of Serbia, Novak said.
