Stjepanovic wins silver, bronze medals in Hong Kong

HONG KONG - Double European champion Velimir Stjepanovic won a silver and a bronze medal at the FINA Swimming World Cup 2014 in Hong Kong, the Serbian Swimming Federation said in a release on Friday.

Stjepanovic earned second-place honors in the men's 200m freestyle event finishing in 1:45.44, and picked up the bronze in 200m butterfly with a time of 1:55.69.

Besides Hong Kong, Stjepanovic competed in Moscow earlier in this year's World Cup series, where he won silver medals in 200m backstroke with a new state record of 1:55.84 and in 200m freestyle in 1:43.92 and claimed bronze in 400m freestyle with a time of 3:46.06.

The next stop in the World Cup series will be Beijing, on October 24. Four days after that, the swimmers will travel to Tokyo, and then to Singapore on November 1.
