Voting at 880 polling stations, 487,371 voters

BELGRADE - The elections for members of the national minority councils scheduled for October 26 will be held at 880 polling stations and involve 487,371 voters, the public journal Official Gazette has reported.

A special list electoral roll for the Macedonian, Montenegrin and Croatian minorities, which was closed on October 10, lists a total of 32,775 voters, that is 5,658 Macedonians, 8,207 Montenegrins and 18,910 Croats, according to a document from the Ministry of Government Administration and Local Government.

These voters are not included in the total number of those who can vote at the direct elections for the national minoritiy councils since they will be choosing their council members through an electronic assembly.

Seventeen national minorities, the Albanians, Ashkalis, Bosniaks, Bulgarians, Bunjevci, Vlachs, Greeks, Egyptians, Hungarians, Germans, Roma, Romanians, Rusyns, Slovaks, Slovenians, Ukrainians and Czechs number a total of 454,596 voters.

They will be able to vote in the direct elections for the national minority councils on October 26.

The Serbian Election Commission met on October 4 and decided that the elections will be held at 880 polling stations.

The commission has so far included 76 slates in the elections.
