Interior Minister Stefanovic visits Romania

BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and his Romanian counterpart Gabriel Oprea stated on Tuesday that strengthening of bilateral cooperation is one of the two countries' priorities.

This visit contributes considerably to improvement of cooperation between the two ministries, two states and two friendly nations. The Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs will endeavor to become a generator of stability in the entire region, said Stefanovic, who is paying an official visit to Romania.

Stefanovic and Oprea pointed out that Serbia and Romania have a very good cooperation in the field of emergency situations, and agreed that the two governments will conclude an agreement in this area by the end of the year, reads a statement by the Serbian Interior Ministry.

Stefanovic thanked for the aid that the Romanian government offered during the floods that hit Serbia in May, especially the quick reaction of special teams engaged in rescuing Serbian citizens and damage repair, the statement reads.

Minister Oprea reiterated the Romanian government's stance on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, adding that the Serbian government enjoys Romania's full support in the European integration process.

During the visit to Bucharest, Minister Stefanovic was presented with the highest-ranking recognition in the field of national security.

Stefanovic invited Oprea to pay a return visit to Serbia so that he could get acquainted with the capacity of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
