Prior Janjic: Redzepi's statement irresponsible

DECANI - Sava Janjic, prior of the Serbian Orthodox monastery Visoki Decani, refuted on Tuesday a statement by Kosovo Interior Minister Bajram Redzepi that three Albanian minors have been arrested for daubing graffiti on the walls and gate of the Serbian Orthodox monastery of Visoki Decani in the south of Kosovo-Metohija promoting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The statement by Minister Redzepi is irresponsible and totally wrong, Janjic said, adding that three minors were held at the police station for a short while on Monday not regarding the graffiti, but because they were shouting out phrases in support of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in front of the monastery.

The statements such as the one of Redzepi offend common sense and serve to conceal the real problems in the field, Janjic wrote on Facebook.

He said that monks noticed on Monday that graffiti have been sprayed on two more spots inside the monastery compound promoting ISIS and Albanian National Army (AKSh).

Graffiti saying ISIS - Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Caliphate is coming, Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and Albanian National Army (AKSh) were discovered on Sunday on some of the buildings inside the compound of this medieval monastery protected by UNESCO.

The statement by Minister Redzepi that KFOR should retreat and that the security of Visoki Decani should be handed over to the Kosovo police is absurd, since the Kosovo police, with all due respect, is more of a problem in certain parts of Kosovo than part of a solution, and it is still unable to operate independently from local political and other structures, Janjic warned.
