Liberal head Klaus Iohannis, running for president of Romania in Nov. 2 elections said on Wednesday that incumbent President Traian Basescu stirs a 'buzz' to divert attention from the electoral campaign and added the head of state and Prime Minister Victor Ponta, also a presidential hopeful are 'uselessly wrangling' and the candidates do not succeed speaking of their programmes.

'If he (Traian Basescu — editor's note) stirs this buzz to divert the attention from the electoral campaign, it is difficult for us to discuss the programmes. /.../ This is how it was at the Euro-parliamentary elections, and this is how it is now, President Basescu and Prime Minister Victor Ponta, instead of doing their jobs and working for Romania, go speaking at the televisions, wrangle utterly uselessly, but very strongly and the candidates have difficulty in getting to the televised shows and speaking about their programmes against this background. Everybody is speaking of agent 007, of issues having nothing to do with the future of Romania, with the presidential hopefuls' programmes', Iohannis told Adevarul Live webcast.

He said he will win the presidential polls and, as such, he will forge no understanding with the Social Democrats (PSD).

'Victor Ponta (the PSD head — editor's note) will lose the presidential elections and will be pushed out of politics by his own party. I will win the presidential elections and there will be a rearrangement of the positions in Parliament, there will be a rearrangement of the proportion of forces in Parliament, which I hope will get a new Government of the new PNL (National Liberal Party) to power', Iohannis stressed.AGERPRES
