Serbian flag burnt in Kosovska Mitrovica

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Unidentified persons burnt the flag of the Republic of Serbia, which was flying on the building of payment operations service in Kosovska Mitrovica, on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The incident occurred in one of the main streets in Kosovska Mitrovica, and the burnt flag could be seen on the site early on Thursday.

Unidentified persons tried to remove the flag of the city of Kosovska Mitrovica, put up near the main bridge across the Ibar River, which separates the Serb-majority northern part of the city from the southern part populated by ethnic Albanians.

In the village of Gojbulja, northern KiM, unidentified persons threw a Molotov cocktail at the village store. Luckily, no one was injured in the attack.

The incidents took place one day after the political provocation during the football match between the national teams of Serbia and Albania at the Partizan Stadium in Belgrade, when a flag with the insignia of 'Greater Albania' appeared over the pitch, sparking further incidents, which caused the match to be abandoned. Albanians in Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and Greece greeted this provocation on Tuesday evening with great euphoria.
