Grgic: Serbia is taking all available measures against Ebola

BELGRADE - Serbia is implementing all the available measures against Ebola that are in line with relevant recommendations by the World Health Organization, Bojana Grgic, epidemiologist at the "Batut" Institute, said Tuesday.

Grgic said for Belgrade-based TV Pink that about 20 people were currently under medical supervision and that the supervision lasted for 21 days, the maximum incubation period for the disease.

"From the very beginning of monitoring, we have had around a hundred people placed under medical supervision, which means that medical supervision will soon end for around 80 of them," said Grgic.

She pointed out that the majority of these people had come from Nigeria, which had been declared officially free of Ebola on Monday.

We are doing everything we can up to prevent Ebola from entering our country, but in the event that it happens anyway, we will be able to react and respond quickly, said Grgic.
