Candidate Calin Popescu Tariceanu: Presidential office is no joke, no place for on-the-job training

In an interview to AGERPRES, Senate Chairman Calin Popescu Tariceanu, an independent presidential candidate in the November 2 presidential election, talks about his project called 'Romania, Europe's Seventh Economic Power,' arguing that the coalescence of the decision makers around a national project is lacking, with the political class being many times out of touch with the public agenda, which is visible also in the campaigning for the presidential election. Tariceanu also says he is disappointed by the campaigning so far.

He adds that his main opponents are Prime Minister Victor Ponta, endorsed by an alliance of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Union for Romania's Progress (UNPR) and the Conservative Party (PC), as well as incumbent Sibiu City Mayor Klaus Iohannis, endorsed by the Christian-Liberal Alliance (ACL). He claims about Iohannis that he is not a genuine Right candidate and that he lacks the experience needed to be a chief of state.
