BEC: Responsibility for existence of statutory declarations belongs to prefects

The responsibility for the existence of the electoral charts for the electors who do not have the residence outside the locality and for the statutory declarations they need to fill in belongs to the prefects, the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) points out.

'Yes, we have received such notifications from BEC [on the lack of statutory declarations]. We have no centralisation of them, because the notifications were made not in writing, but on the telephone, even by press representatives. We have notified the relevant institutions in respect to this. The responsibility for the existence of the electoral charts for the electors who do not have the residence in the locality in question and for the statutory declarations that they need to fill in belongs to the prefect of the Municipality of Bucharest, who, upon notification from the corresponding sector electoral bureau, where charts and declarations were found to be missing, must take measures for these charts and declarations to reach the polling stations as soon as possible,' Central Electoral Bureau spokesman Marian Muhulet said.
