BEC - partial results: Ponta 39.57 pct, Iohannis 30.19 pct

Incumbent Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party - National Union for Romania's Progress - Conservative Party alliance got 39.57 percent of the votes in the first round of the presidential elections on Sunday, while Christian Liberal Alliance's candidate Klaus Iohannis got 30.19 percent, according to partial data released by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) at 3 a.m., based on information collected from 10,594 polling stations, accounting for 56.21 percent.

Following are independent Calin Popescu-Tariceanu — 5.83 percent, and the People's Movement Party chair Elena Udrea — 5.17 percent, independent candidate Monica Macovei who got 4.65 percent and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania candidate Kelemen Hunor with 3.87 percent.

BEC also reported that coming next are Dan Diaconescu of the People's Party Dan Diaconescu (PP-DD) with 3.84 percent, Corneliu Vadim Tudor of the Greater Romania Party — 3.71 percent, independent Teodor Melescanu — 1.17 percent, Szilagyi Zsolt, — who ran under the banner of the Hungarian People's Party of Transylvania (PPMT) — 0.63 percent, independent Gheorghe Funar — 0.48 percent, William Brinza of the Romanian Green Party — 0.45 percent, Constantin Rotaru (the Socialist Alliance Party) — 0.29 percent and Mirel Mircea Amaritei (Prodemo) — 0.08 percent.

The Electoral Bureau reported that the counties having processed the voting results in a share of 100% are Bistrita and Dambovita.
