Two tremors hit quake-weary island of Cephalonia

Two tremors, measuring 4.8 and 3.6 on the Richter scale, on Friday morning rattled the Ionian island of Cephalonia, which suffered serious damage in two strong earthquakes earlier this year.

The first quake struck at 09.41 a.m. and had an epicenter about four kilometers northeast of Argostoli, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute. The second smaller quake which struck 12 minutes had its epicenter off the coast of Lixouri, the port which suffered the most serious damage from the two strong quakes, measuring 5.7 and 5.8 Richter. that hit the island in January and February.

There were no reports of further damage after Friday's smaller tremors.
