Top 10: Turkey’s most visited museums

The Culture Ministry has announced that a total of 20,269,000 people visited Turkish museums and historic sites in the first eight months of 2014. The total number throughout the whole of 2013 was 29,481,000. Here is the list of the top 10 most visited museums in Turkey, according to the latest figures:
1) Topkapı Palace, Istanbul: 3,760,548 visitors

2) Hagia Sophia, Istanbul: 3,298,286 visitors

3) Mevlana Museum, Konya: 2,046,000 visitors

4) Harem Section of Topkapı Palace, Istanbul: 621,667 visitors

5) Demre (Santa Claus) Museum, Antalya: 532,391 visitors

6) Hacı Bektaş Veli Museum, Nevşehir: 469,932 visitors

7) Archaeological Museum, Istanbul: 455,186 visitors

8) Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora, Istanbul: 343,572 visitors

9) Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Ankara: 248,786 visitors

10) Museum of the Republic, Ankara: 227,946 visitors
