EPP's Daul: Basescu will be very pleased if centre-right movement wins elections

Leader of the European People's Party (EPP), Joseph Daul said he had discussed early on Tuesday with President Traian Basescu about political matters, pointing out the head of state will be pleased if the centre-right movement wins the presidential elections.

"I have always worked well with Mr. President Basescu and as regards the friends I work fair with, I don't think whether it's a politically correct situation or not. The only thing I would tell you about today's discussion is that Mr. Basescu will be very pleased if the centre-right movement wins the elections this Sunday. ... Mr. Basescu is a man of great experience. If he wants to express his opinion, he will do it on his own, he does need me to express his opinion," Daul told a press conference.

The EPP leader revealed that he has discussed with President Basescu about political topics, but he refused to give further details.

Daul also thanked Basescu for his works alongside the European political party.

"I told him that I hope I will be able to thank him once again on behalf of the heads of government next December," Joseph Daul said.AGERPRES
