Number Of Bulgarians, Romanians In UK Reaches New High

The number of Bulgarians and Romanians working in Britain has reached a new high, reports The Telegraph, quoting data of UK's Office For National Statistics.

It shows that at the end of September there were 189 000 citizens of the two countries working in the UK. This is by 31 000 more than in the previous quarter and 49 000 more year-on-year. The Bulgarians and Romanians are the only group whose numbers increase.

According to the data, the total number of workers from the EU countries, however, has dropped.

At the end of September there were 1 817 000 from the EU as a whole by country of birth, compared with 1 847 000 at the end of the previous quarter. The number of EU workers as a whole was up 181 000 year-on-year, or 11%.
