Rama accused Serbia for assimilation of Albanians

After the statement that Belgrade should recognize Kosovo as an independent country, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama continued with provocations during his yesterday's visit to Preševo.

This time, he decided to go one step further, accusing Serbia for "assimilation of Albanians" who live in southern Serbia. Rama said that "Albanians who live in Serbia's southern municipalities have less rights than Serbs in Kosovo."

- Albania will insist solving problems in Preševo to be an essential step towards joining Serbia in EU, and will not allow assimilation of Albanian people in that area - Rama said.

Minister of Diplomacy Ivica Dačić immediately responded on this provocation, calling it "meaningless."

- Is Rama the Prime Minister of Albania or Kosovo? What's the position of Serbs who live in Albania? They are refusing to sign Agreement on National Minorities because they think everything is just fine in Albania. It is fine for them, because there are no Serbs, they are all albanised. Instead of talking about Serbian minority in Albania, Rama is talking about Serbs in Kosovo - Ivica Dačić said.

He stated that Rama's visit to Belgrade failed to fulfill its purpose, because "it did not improve the relations between two countries."
