Survey: 55 pct of Iohannis voters say Ponta wins Tuesday's debate

A majority 55 percent of the voters of Liberal presidential contender Klaus Iohannis say Social Democrat Prime Minister Victor Ponta, also running for president of Romania in this Sunday's runoff won the one-on-one electoral debate organised by Realitatea TV news channel Tuesday evening, according to a CSCI survey made public on Wednesday.

Furthermore, 65 percent of those having declaring themselves undecided as to who they would vote for see Ponta as the winner of the debate. As for the prime minister's voters, 90 percent of the respondents consider he won the debate.

The survey shows 70 percent of the Romanians see Ponta as the winner of the debate.

When evaluating by regions, the survey reveals that 90 percent of the polled in Moldavia consider Ponta is the debate winner, the same as 73 percent of Muntenia and 58 percent of Transylvania respondents.

As for the perception by age brackets, all brackets say Ponta is the winner. 57 percent of the people aged between 18 and 35, also 69 percent of those aged between 36 and 50 and 72 percent of the people aged between 51 and 65 and 80 percent of those over 66 years old say the Social Democrat leader was the winner of the debate.
