Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu makes an appeal to the Romanian voters from abroad to hit the polls on Nov. 16 as early as possible.

"The Romanian citizens who will cast their vote abroad should go to the polls as early as possible to avoid crowding. I recommend them to use the time available, from 7 in the morning and throughout the 14 hours ballots can be cast, according to the law," Melescanu said.

He stressed that the measures taken by the Foreign Ministry ensure "at least a doubling of the number of those who voted in the first round if two conditions are met, the citizens must fill in the form of the declaration on their own responsibility before entering the polling stations, and secondly all the seven members of the Commission must be present in all polling places."

"The appeal that I made is also very important, all citizens to go to the polls as early as possible," said Melescanu, also pointing out that in most of the cases "nearly half of the votes have been cast between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m."
