Bosniak Leader Rejects ‘Nazi Father’ Claims

Izetbegovic on Thursday demanded an apology from Republka Srpska President Dodik for his comments about Alija Izetbegovic, the first president of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the incumbent Bosniak leader's late father. 

A statement from the Bosnian presidency denied that Alija Izetbegovic was a member of the Handschar division of the Waffen-Schutzstaffel, the SS, an armed branch of the German Nazi Party consisting of Bosnian Muslims and Croats. 

In an interview with Banja Luka-based daily Glas Srpske, Milorad Dodik alleged that Izetbegovic "was in the Handschar division which killed and slaughtered Serbs".
