Romania's President-elect, Klaus Iohannis on Friday has had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, on his first visit abroad after the November 16 presidential runoff.

The two high officials have had an approximately half an hour talk at the State Administration's headquarters in Chisinau, and refused to make any statements afterwards.

Klaus Iohannis was accompanied at this meeting with the Moldova President by the National Liberal Party (PNL)'s co-chair, Vasile Blaga and the PNL first deputy-chair, Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu.

According to the Diaspora senator Viorel Badea, who has also attended the talks, Iohannis and Timofti have discussed about "the necessity to keep the Republic of Moldova's European road in the context of the parliamentary elections this Sunday."

"It is said that Romania will stay permanently close and unconditionally to the Republic of Moldova, to preserve this political orientation. It is said that we shall take over the targets we've had until now and we'll develop them as regards their importance and amplitude," Viorel Badea told AGERPRES.

Badea added that Romania's President-elect and the President of Moldova have not talked about the political actors of the Republic of Moldova or about the extremist grouping Antifa which, according to Chisinau authorities, was preparing to undermine the post-electoral situation of Moldova.AGERPRES
