EULEX questions Slavisa Ristic

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Former head of the Serb-majority municipality of Zubin Potok, northern Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), Slavisa Ristic is being questioned by the international prosecutors at Kosovska Mitrovica.

Ristic appeared voluntarily before the prosecutors at Mitrovica, EULEX Spokesperson Dragana Nikolic Solomon told Tanjug.

Ristic, as well as the current Zubin Potok Mayor Stevan Vulovic, were not in Kosovo over the past months.

Upon request of the EULEX prosecutor, the Kosovo police tried to serve the summons on Ristic and Vulovic at their homes in mid July but they were not in, and arrest warrants for them were issued soon after.

Ristic was wanted in connection with the incident of July 26, 2011 in Zubin Potok, when a member of the Kosovo police special unit (ROSU) Enver Zumberi was killed.

Zumberi was killed in the shooting near the Brnjak crossing on July 26, 2011, in the incident that occurred a day after the Kosovo police special unit took over the Brnjak crossing, while the Serbs from Leposavic, northern Kosovo, tried to prevent them from taking over the administrative crossing Jarinje between the north of the Province and Serbia proper.

Six Serbs are suspects in the murder of Zumberi, and two are currently detained.

Vulovic is suspected of involvement in organizing the escape of a Serb prisoner from the police custody in Zubin Potok.
