Romania Chief-diplomat meets Moldova President in Chisinau

Romania's Foreign Affairs Minister, Bogdan Aurescu has had on Monday, in Chisinau, the capital-city of the Republic of Moldova, a half-an-hour meeting with the neighbouring country's President, Nicolae Timofti, in his first visit abroad since he was appointed in office.

At end-meeting, the Romanian chief of diplomacy highlighted the significance of the moment he has chosen to pay the visit, given the parliamentary elections on Sunday in the Republic of Moldova.

"First of all, it is a tradition for a first visit of a newly appointed Romanian Foreign Affairs minister to be in Chisinau. Secondly, it is an important moment, following the elections here, which took place yesterday (on Sunday — editor's note)," Aurescu said.

Minister Aurescu has paid a visit to Chisinau on Monday to celebrate Romania's National Day alongside the Romanians living in the Republic of Moldova.AGERPRES
