Record corn export of 480,000 tons in November

BELGRADE - Serbia exported 480,000 tons of corn in November, which represents a record in terms of the country's monthly export of cereals, Zita Srbije Director Vukosav Sakovic told Tanjug.

He recalled that the record monthly export until now totalled 365,000 tons of corn, and added that the latest record export was recorded in November 2010.

Sakovic underscored that Serbia managed to get back a part of the buyers it lost due to the problems with toxins back in 2012, so one of the country's major customers for corn in October and November 2014 was once more South Korea.

Corn was also sold to EU countries, including Spain, Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands, Sakovic said.

Apart from the record 770,000 tons of exported corn, the past two months have brought another positive development in the country - the progress of Serbia's export logistics and the country's capacity to sell 500,000 tons of corn a month, or 6 million tons a year, Sakovic said.
