Over 300 hectares of land flooded in Giurgiu county following heavy rains

As many as 186 hectares of pastures, 90 hectares of farmland and 30 hectares of forests were flooded in the southern Giurgiu county on Sunday, following the heavy rains.
According to Giurgiu Water Management Service, the submerged land is located in the rural towns of Vanatorii Mici, Bulbucata, Iepuresti and Bucsani.

The water management specialists say the floods occurred after the rivers Neajlov and Dambovnic burst their banks and as a result of the rains and the water running down from the slopes. As much as 72 liters per square meter of rain was recorded at
Marsa.

All the roads in the Danube River county are open to traffic. Two footbridges are submerged and two local roads linking Iepuresti to Chirculesti and Bulbucata to Teisor respectively are flooded on around 100-meter stretches, with the water being 15 centimeters deep.

A Code Orange alert of floods is also in place on the Neajlov, in Giurgiu county.

Forecasters say rains will continue to fall in Giurgiu county till Thursday, Dec. 11.
