First presidential vote in Greek Parliament to take place Dec. 17 at 7 pm, source tells Kathimerini

The first of three possible parliamentary votes to elect Greece's new President will take place on Wednesday, December 17, at 7 p.m., sources have told Kathimerini.

The conservative-led coalition needs a two-thirds majority - equivalent to 200 MPs out of the 300-member assembly - for its candidate, Stavros Dimas, to be elected. If it fails to do so, a second round will be held after five days, on December 23.

If it fails again, a third and final round of voting will be held on December 29, but this time the required majority will drop to 180 lawmakers.
