September unemployment hits 10.5 pct, highest since February 2011

Turkey's unemployment rate has increased to 10.5 percent in the three month period between August and October, compared with the 10.1 percent between July and September, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said Dec. 15.

This is the highest figure since February 2011.

The non-agricultural unemployment rate was 12.7 percent in the September period.

The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over surged to 3.06 million from 2.94 million in the previous period.

The youth unemployment rate was announced as 19.1 percent.
