Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday named analyst Radu Magdin a honorary advisor on foreign communication, to deal with the prime minister's foreign communication strategy with emphasis on Romania's position in the European and international news media, the Government's Press Office announced.

'The image of Romania and of the governmental activity are priorities for us in the period ahead, as it is important that the reforms currently under way should contribute to changing the perception of our country. We wish to have renewed communication with the international media and boost Romania's profile in Brussels, Washington and other European or global capitals', Ponta is quoted by the Press Office's release as saying.

According to it, Magdin said he was honoured by the offer to work for the country's and the Government's image abroad, 'being interested in as good as possible coverage of Romania and of the successes of the Government in the international media'.

'Romania needs much better country PR, it is a matter of national interest, beyond the political sphere', the release quotes Magdin as saying.
