Mihajlovic:Corridors 10,11 - strategic importance for Serbia

BELGRADE - Infrastructure connects the countries, and Corridors 10 and 11 are very significant and have strategic importance for Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbian deputy prime minister and minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, said after the meeting with Ivan Brajovic, Montenegrin minister of transport and maritime affairs.

She told reporters during the second day of the Meeting of Heads of Government of China and CEECs that she conferred with her Montenegrin counterpart on Belgrade-Bar motorway and Corridor 11.

Corridor 11 has strategic importance for Serbia, along with Corridor 10, Mihajlovic said, adding that the construction works on Corridor 10 will be finished in 2016.

She pointed to the bad condition of the Belgrade-Bar rail line, and announced that the repair works will be launched next year with the help of a Russian loan, which Serbia has already agreed upon.

Mihajlovic said that she and Brajovic agreed on intensification of cooperation, which should result in concrete agreements on joint sessions of the two governments in March next year.

The Montenegrin minister highlighted the successful cooperation between the two ministries, stressing that he is particularly glad that there is a true interest of the two countries in construction of the Bar-Belgrade motorway and repair of the rail line between Bar and Belgrade.

The Belgrade-Bar rail line is in a really bad condition, particularly the section that runs through Serbia, and that is, among other things, caused by catastrophic floods (May, 2014), he said.
