Mogherini "should participate in Kosovo dialogue"

PRIŠTINA -- Kosovo Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci says EU High Representative Federica Mogherini should be included in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

"I understand that Mogherini has a busy agenda, but the Balkans should be one of the priorities of the EU. If we want to have success, Mogherini should be present at the meetings. She should be at the forefront of the conversation," Thaci said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

According to the media in Pristina, Thaci said he had "no nostalgia for the Yugoslav communist leader Josip Broz Tito," but observed that during his regime, "Albanians moved freely and were able to travel without visas."

Expressing frustration that there has been "no liberalization of the visa regime for citizens of Kosovo," he mentioned Tito and the time when inhabitants of Kosovo traveled freely.

"I have no nostalgia for Tito. But it is ironic that citizens of Kosovo could travel freely in Europe 30 years ago, but not now," said Thaci.
