Wrestler Stefanek named Best Athlete by Sport daily

BELGRADE - Wrestler Davor Stefanek was named Serbia's Best Athlete in 2014 at the 58th annual selection by the daily newspaper Sport.

Stefanek earned the award by winning the world champion title in the 66kg category in Tashkent in September. Tennis player Novak Djokovic was the runner up, followed by swimmer Velimir Stjepanovic, basketball player Milos Teodosic, kayaker Nikolina Moldovan and other athletes.

Partizan water polo player Gavril Subotic was named Best Young Athlete, which was the 20th time this award was given out.

The jury was made up of all 57 former winners of the award presided by Serbian Athletic Federation Secretary General Slobodan Brankovic.
