Severe frost expected in coming days

BELGRADE -- Temperatures in Serbia will be dropping as low as -20 degrees Celsius in some areas in the coming days, forecasters have warned.

The weather on Wednesday, the last day of the year, will be overcast and very cold, with weak snow, and clear in the north, the state meteorological authority, RHMZ, has announced.

Until Friday, Serbia will be experiencing what is known as "ice days" - when temperatures stay below 0 degrees during nighttime and daytime.

At night, temperatures will be dropping to -10 to -20 degrees, while at day, they will rise from -10 to -2.

On Wednesday, the highest temperature in Belgrade will -8 degrees.

Starting on Saturday, forecasters expect warmer weather and overcast skies, with precipitation - snow and sleet - in some areas.
