4.1 earthquake jolts eastern Romania

An earthquake measuring 4.1 Richter jolted the seismic area of Vrancea (eastern Romania) at 8:08 a.m. (6.08 UTC) on Monday, at 17 kilometers depth, the National Institute for Earth Physics has announced.

Since the beginning of the year, 11 earthquakes have hit Vrancea, with the most powerful measuring 4.3 Richter.

The strongest quake in Romania last year measured 5.7 Richter and occurred in Vrancea on Nov. 22.AGERPRES
