Aegean Air to serve 14 destinations from Cyprus

Aegean Airlines announced on Tuesday its expansion to Cyprus, with the aim of covering the gap created by the closure of Cyprus Airways, adding three more aircraft to its Larnaca hub and increasing the direct destinations served to and from Cyprus to 14.

Eftychios Vassilakis, Aegean?s vice president, presented the carrier?s plans in Cyprus yesterday and did not rule out the possibility that the leading Greek airline will stake a claim for the trademark and the name of Cyprus Airways, as the company will be willing to examine the proposals expected from the Cypriot government.

The company?s summer schedule provides for an increase in services between Greece and Cyprus linking Athens and Thessaloniki with Larnaca, while introducing a service between Athens and Paphos. Larnaca will also be directly linked with Iraklio, Rhodes, Myconos and Santorini as of this summer.
