Hotel rates are highest in Belgrade, lowest in Palic

BELGRADE - Belgrade has the highest hotel rates in Serbia, with the standard double room going for EUR 76 on average, while the most affordable destination in the country is Palic, northern Serbia, where the price is EUR 38.

An overnight stay in a standard double room in Serbia cost EUR 73.08 last year, or 7% more than in 2013 when the average price was EUR 68.33, according to the hotel price comparison site Trivago.

The most expensive month to visit Serbia was October, when hotel accommodation for a night cost EUR 60 on average. The rate was at its lowest in March, around EUR 49.

Based on the cost of hotel accommodation in 2014, the most expensive country in the region is Slovenia, where the average price for a standard double room stood at EUR 104.25, while Bulgarian hotels were the cheapest with EUR 58.58.

Serbian hotel deals are comparable to Hungarian, Trivago says. The average cost of overnight stay is EUR 73.08 in Serbia and EUR 76.58 in Hungary.

The most expensive hotels in Europe last year were the ones in Switzerland, with the average rate of EUR 192.67 per night.

Trivago is a hotel search engine that compares more than 700,000 hotel deals from over 175 booking sites.

The site was launched in 2005 in Dusseldorf, Germany, and today it is available in 29 languages on 49 international platforms.
