El Dhaheri: Serbia opens doors wide for many UAE investments

NOVI SAD - The University of Novi Sad has presented Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Serbia Juma Rashid Saif Zayed Al Dhaheri with a Captain Misa Anastasijevic award, for his contribution to promoting friendly relations and strengthening economic cooperation between Serbia and the UAE.

During the ceremony at which he received the award late on Friday, Ambassador El Dhaheri thanked everyone who had put him forward as candidate for the prestigious award and those who had supported efforts to deepen the friendship between the two countries, through which the UAE was willing to contribute to Serbia's development as much as it can.

He noted that the development of relations between the two countries had been encouraged during a highest level meeting between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic at the end of October 2012.

Serbia and the UAE have since been working extensively to build and promote bilateral relations, primarily in the economic sphere, the ambassador said, recalling a series of major agreements on economic cooperation, including investments by Etihad, an agricultural agreement with Al Dahra, agreement on investments by Mubadala in the production of microchips and
an agreement on investment in an ambitious project, Belgrade Waterfront.

El Dhaheri said that the results of cooperation had opened the door for many development investments in Serbia, particularly in agriculture, energy, new technologies, medicine and tourism.

He said that his country had shown it was a true friend after the catastrophic flooding that had hit Serbia in May, pointing out that a donation by Sheikh Mohammed had been used to finance the construction...
