Industrial production drops by 5.3 percent in December

BELGRADE - Industrial production in Serbia was lower by 5.3 percent in December 2014 compared to the same month in the previous year, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia released on Friday.

Electricity, gas and steam supply and air conditioning recorded a drop by 30.4 percent, and mining dropped by 30.2 percent in December 2014.

Increase was recorded in the processing industry sector to the total value of 6.4 percent.

Compared to the same month in the previous year, the data on industrial production according to consumer groups in December 2014 show that energy production dropped by 26.6 percent, industry of capital products dropped by 3.6 percent and production of intermediary products except energy dropped by 0.1 percent.

Increase was recorded in the production of non-durable consumer products (14.1 percent) and consumer durables (1.2 percent).

The scope of industrial production in December 2014 compared to December 2013 recorded a drop in 17 sectors (stake in the structure of industrial production at 58 percent), and growth was recorded in 12 areas (stake in the structure of industrial production at 42 percent).

The greatest impact on the drop of industrial production in December 2014 compared to the same month in 2013 was recorded in electricity production, coal exploitation, industry of metal products except machines, production of chemicals and chemical derivatives and production of rubber and plastic goods.
