Varoufakis reveals "bridging deal" timeline

"We will witness the end of the crisis in June. We can do it. Everyone in Europe just needs to calm down", stated FinMin Yanis Varoufakis to Italian journalists shortly before his meeting with Finance Minister of Italy Pier Carlo Padoan.

 

The Greek FinMin revealed the informal timeline that the Greek side hopes to achieve an agreement with European creditors from the 1st of June.

 

Mr. Varoufakis stated that a "bridge-agreement" will be needed, to give us time, beginning from the end of February, in order to reach an agreement which we can set in motion on the 1st of June.

 

Yanis Varoufakis' European tour is ever-changing. He is meeting, and will continue to meet, with European Finance Ministers and heads of European institutions presenting the SYRIZA government's positions.

 

According to the same sources, Mr. Varoufakis will not be attending the Tsipras-Renzi meeting.

 

According to his statements to the press, Mr. Varoufakis will visit Frankfurt on Wednesday to meeet with Mario Draghi, then continue on to Berlin to meet with Wolfgang Schaeuble on Thursday. It is still up in the air on whether Mr. Varoufakis will visit Brussels to partake in the Tsipras-Juncker meeting.
