StartLabs fund to invest in Serbian IT sector

BELGRADE - US based investment fund StartLabs announced plans to set up a fund that would focus on investment in information technologies (IT) in Serbia and the region, with an aim to connect South East Europe with California's Silicon Valley.

The new StartLabs Ventures fund, to be seated in Belgrade, will invest in IT startups in the Balkans and Serbia, officials of the US based fund announced at the presentation.

The seed fund will invest up to USD 50,000 in emerging startups in the IT sector to help them build successful and fast-growing businesses.

StartLabs Ventures has been present in the region for more than a year, with offices in Ljubljana and Sofia and, as of recently, in Belgrade as well.

The promotion was attended by numerous members of the business community and Executive Director of AmCham Serbia Maja Piscevic.
