Vucic: No deficit in first 40 days of 2015

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated on Tuesday that for the first time in the recent history, Serbia recorded no deficit in the first 40 days of the year.

Vucic expressed expectation at the conference under the title "Belgrade Dialogues" that this year's economic data will be by far better than expected.

The prime minister noted that according to the forecast, the deficit at the end of 2014 was to stand between 8.6 and 8.8 percent, however owing to the austerity measures it went down to 6.6 percent in the last quarter.

We expect that the deficit will not exceed RSD 55 billion, that is EUR 450 million. In the first 40 days, we have no deficit, Vucic said, stressing that tax collection is twice higher compared to January, 2014.

"I assert that we will have much better results that the ones we set for ourselves," the prime minister said.

The Serbian budget and finances are becoming incomparably healthier, and responsibility is incomparably greater, Vucic said.
