Royal Jordanian announces new flights from Amman to Athens

Airport International Group (AIG) – the Jordanian consortium responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) – has announced kick off of its operations with three Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) flights schedule to take off from the new terminal starting Sunday 3rd March, 2013.

AIG clarified that RJ’s Athens, Doha and Sharm El Sheikh-bound flights are merely the first three that will be departing from the new QAIA terminal beginning on Sunday 3rd March and up until the full transfer of all RJ and other airlines’ flights to the new building on 21st March, 2013.

Accordingly, RJ has asked those of its passengers departing to Athens, Doha and Sharm El Sheikh to go directly to the new terminal and follow the signs that have been set up in the building’s lounges to complete the usual travel procedures.

“By starting with three initial departure flights, RJ and AIG are in the process of preparing for the full transfer of all operations to the new terminal. This operation represents an exciting phase for us at QAIA as we are introducing a new traveler experience by leveraging modern facilities, advanced work mechanisms and cutting-edge passenger handling systems,” said AIG CEO Kjeld Binger. “We at AIG value our strategic partnership with RJ, Jordan’s official carrier, and we are confident that, together, we will be able to achieve our vision of positioning QAIA as a niche transit hub in the region.”
