PM Victor Ponta meets CIA Director John Brennan in Washington

Prime Minister Victor Ponta has had a meeting on Thursday with the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Brennan, where both underlined the progress recorded within the Romania-US Strategic Partnership, the Romanian Government informs in a press release sent AGERPRES.

"On this occasion, progress within the Strategic Partnership between Romanian and the United States, were highlighted. On this meeting, the CIA Director reaffirmed his appreciation for the excellent collaboration relation with the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) and the role assumed by Romania in the region," the mentioned release adds.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who is on a visit to the United States of America, has already met on Wednesday, his first day there, with the US Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker.

Victor Ponta also chaired on that very afternoon, in Washington, a round table organised by the American-Romanian Business Council, an event which regrouped significant companies within AMRO, such as ADM, Allied TechSystems, Amgen, Boeing, Cargill, Chevron, Coca-Cola, Ellicott, ExxonMobile, General Electric, Lindsay, Mega, MetLife, MoneyGram, Pike Energy, Raytheon, Smithfield, Timken, and was hosted by the AMRO Chairman, Eric Stewart.

On Thursday, the Romanian Prime Minister has met in Washington D.C. the US Secretary of Defence, Chuck Hagel. During the meeting at the Pentagon, "the constant preoccupation of the Romanian Government was restated for the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation in Defence, as a pillar of the Strategic Partnership between Romanian and the United States of America," also highlighting "the ample support in Romania...
