Ivanovic suffers defeat in Dubai third round

DUBAI - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic has failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Dubai WTA tournament after losing 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic in the third round on Wednesday.

In a bid to secure a semi-final spot, Pliskova will take on compatriot Lucie Safarova, who beat Venus Williams of the United States 6-4, 6-2.

The prize money of the Dubai tournament totals EUR 2 million.
