New standards to be introduced in Balkan spas

BELGRADE - Representatives of the national associations of spas in Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia and Turkey inked an agreement on establishment of the Balkan Spa Institute on Friday.

The associations have been cooperating for ten years, and now they hope that other countries in the region will join them as well.

The goal of the institute will be to introduce new standards in the Balkan spas, Vladan Veskovic, secretary of the Serbian Spas Association, told Tanjug.

He said that the introduction of a single program for spas in all countries that are the signatories of the agreement will make their position more prominent in the European and world markets.

The promotion of the new tourist offer "Spas of the Balkans" will be one of the priorities in the years to come, Veskovic said.

The agreement on the establishment of the Balkan Spa Institute was signed in the Belgrade Fair complex, which currently houses the 37th International Tourism Fair and other accompanying programs.
