PM condemns acts of terror targeting Egyptians

BELGRADE -- Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met on Monday with Egypt's Ambassador to Serbia Menha Mahrous Bakhoum and condemned the attacks on Egyptian citizens in Libya.

The ambassador stressed the support of Egypt for Serbia's "moderate and responsible policy."

The two officials discussed the strengthening of bilateral ties, particularly economic and political relations, and agreed that these areas offer great potential for improvement, the government said in a statement.

Vucic "strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on Egyptian citizens in Libya, stressing that the entire international community must join forces in the fight against terrorism and radicalism."

Bakhoum underscored Egypt's support for "the moderate, reasonable and responsible policy pursued by the government of Serbia, both at the regional and the international level."

Egypt earlier this month called on the international community to intervene against Islamic State extremists in Libya after they abducted and decapitate 21 Egyptian Christians.
