Montenegrin companies interested in buying Serbian ones

BELGRADE - Serbia's Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic has said after a meeting with his counterpart from Montenegro Vladimir Kavaric that Montenegrin companies are interested in taking part in privatisation in Serbia.

"There are 5 companies from Montenegro that are interested in 8 Serbian companies that are for sale," Sertic told reporters after signing a protocol from a meeting of the two countries' joint committee for economic cooperation.

Trade between Serbia and Montenegro in 2014 was EUR 618 million, of which EUR 568 was Serbian export and EUR 50.6 was import from Montenegro, he noted.

There is plenty of room to improve cooperation between the two countries, and inside CEFTA, especially since Montenegro is one step ahead of Serbia in many chapters of the negotiations with the EU, he pointed out.

The economic cooperation between Serbia and Montenegro can be even greater, regardless of the fact that Serbia has a surplus in trade with Montenegro, Sertic said.

"I think there is room to improve cooperation when it comes to commodities and services from Montenegro and in terrms of Serbian companies getting involved in more projects in Montenegro," he concluded.
